Musical Trip

Let's take a trip to Mexico. On this trip you will experience a mariachi band. A mariachi band is the most common type of music linked to Mexico.mariachi band is a big part of Mexico's culture. These bands date back to the 19th  century starting in the western part of Mexico spreading all over the world. Typically nowadays a mariachi band has four people but can have a dozen.

Traditional instruments that are played in this band are violin, guitar, guitarron, and vihuela. The outfits the band wears are traditional charro suits. The point is to dress to impress with bright colors, fancy beading and official embroidery.

The typical rhythm of a mariachi band is 4/4, 3/4, or 2/4. tiempos vary depending on the type of song. slower if the song is about love or gref. faster if the song is for a party or to get people dancing. The majority of the songs are in a  major scale. Lastly the texture of most mariachi bands are harmonic with the melody being supported by the other installments or vocalist.

on the left there is a slower sadder traditional mariachi band. on the right is a happy upbeat traditional dance song from a mariachi band.

my opinion: I took a trip to Mexico when I was younger and I absolutely loved the culture. the fun colors and bright music I love mariachi bands and fun dancing culture. I haven't listened to a sad song from a mariachi band before so that was very interesting. I do like the upbeat music better.

The evolution of the violin

The violin past

The violin was first known in the 16th century. There are no early violins that exist today. The way we learned about violins was from paintings. The violin became famous over Europe in the 1600s. Two earliest violin makers are from Italy Andre Amati from Cremona and Gasprom di Bertoletti from salon.

This is a picture of the first type of violin.

This is a recent violin that common in most orchestras the sound quality is much stronger than the first made violin. A acoustic violin has a quieter pitch and usually have a slower tempo.

In a orchestra the rhythm has to be perfect. All of the bows moving together and following the conductor.
The violin future
Violins have advanced by becoming electric. The first electric violin entered the market in 1930s and 1940s. Most songs that have a electric violin has a higher pitch and faster tempo.

My opinion

I think I like the classic sweet sounds of the  acoustic  Violin better than the sharp bright sounds of the electric violin. I enjoy playing the classic version and listening/watching the classical version.

Music Analysis 2

In light of the fresh snow that has fallen in Fairbanks I choose a band/ song that reminds me of a song you would play on the drive to the lake in summer. Grouplove is the name of the band. Grouplove came out with Tongue Tied in 2011 and was popular enough to be featured in a Apple I pod touch commercial.

Structure

Songs can be structured in many ways. Some structures are more common than others. According to genius the structure for Tongue Tied is into, verse 1, chorus, verse2, chorus, bridge, chorus, verse 3, chorus, and intro. It’s interesting when you take the time to break a song down how much it becomes a story.

Rhythm

Grouplove made a very upbeat dancing rhythm. Tongue Tied has a constant rhythm that is difficult to explain without the song playing or the music to read. I think its interesting the song dose not repeat that much keeping the listening ears listening.

Tempo

Tongue Tied is considered to be in the rock genre of music. The tempo goes a long with that statement, 113 BPM lasting the whole song about three minutes and 38 seconds. This song will get you up and moving with a smile.

Pitch

The pitch is actually fairly low. The song is so upbeat you would thing there would be a loud bright voice on the other side of the microphone but listeners don’t get that. The voices of the artists are fairly low while the instruments carry our ears through the song with a brighter louder pitch.

Harmony

Harmony is peace something good to listen to. When a listener listens to Tonge Tied that’s what they get. The two artists Ryan Rabin and Captain Cuts have perfect harmony with their voices while the instruments play off of each other in perfect harmony.

I hope with all of this new knowledge about Tonge Tied you go check it out if you haven’t listened to it and if you have heard of this song I hope you enjoy all of this new information like Idid.
